LE MOYNE CLAIM’S TOP SEED IN NORTHEAST-10

South Easton, Mass. – The Dolphins of Le Moyne College claimed the top seed and will host the Northeast-10 Softball Championship, presented by Diamond Sports.

Le Moyne (30-13, 23-4 NE-10) finished conference play with a 23-4 record to earn their fourth Northeast-10 Regular Season title. Southern New Hampshire University (24-10, 21-7) picked up the second seed in the championship after earning the tie-break over Southern Connecticut State University (32-13, 21-7 NE-10) due to their conference series win in the regular season. The Owls will be the third seed in the championship.

Rounding out the rest of the field is Bryant University (23-14, 19-9 NE-10), winner of the past two Northeast-10 Championships, with the number four seed followed by The University of Massachusetts Lowell (24-20, 19-9) as the fifth seed. Bryant won the tie-break with UMass Lowell due to their conference series win during the regular season. Merrimack College (20-18, 17-11) claimed the sixth seed.

The double-elimination tournament kicks off on Friday, May 4 with four games starting with two contests at 12 p.m., #4 Bryant versus #5 UMass Lowell and #3 Southern Connecticut versus #6 Merrimack. At 3:30 p.m. the winner of Bryant/UMass Lowell will face #1 Le Moyne, while the winner of Southern Connecticut/Merrimack will play #2 Southern New Hampshire.

Another four games are slated for day two on Saturday, May 5 with two games at 12 p.m. and two games at 3:30 p.m. The Northeast-10 Championship concluded on Sunday, May 6 with game nine of the tournament slated for a 10 a.m. start followed by game 10 at 12 p.m. Game 11 of the tournament will be at 3 p.m. if necessary.

Sponsoring 23 championship sports and 15 full-time members, the Northeast-10 is the second largest NCAA Division II athletic conference in the nation and sponsors the most championships of any Division II conference.
