LE MOYNE SOFTBALL SPLITS DOUBLE HEADER AGAISNT C. W.
POST

Brookville, N.Y. - Le Moyne split their double header this
afternoon as they faced C. W. Post. Winning their first game 9-1 Le
Moyne’s bats and pitching showed their power. In their second
game of the day the Dolphins failed to keep their drive going
against C.W. Post as they lost 4-1. This brings the Dolphins to an
overall record of 11-7.
In the first game of the day the Dolphins took an early lead
loading the bases and bringing in four runs. Advancing to home on a
pass ball, Bailey Phillips plated an unearned run putting the
Dolphins on the board early in the first inning. Danielle
VanGorder’s double to left center brought in two more for Le
Moyne extending their lead to 3-0. Trying to keep their momentum
going, Jennifer Farrellys single to left field brought in one last
run giving the Dolphins a comfortable lead of 4-0. Jenna Vanacores
pitching would silence C.W. Post bats in the first inning giving
the Dolphins another opportunity to extend their lead.
In the second inning the Dolphins would bring in two unearned runs
by a single to the right side, by Farrelly. C.W. would fail to put
a point on the board ending the inning 6-0. Finally in the bottom
of the third, C.W. Post would prevent the shut out as they scored
on a throwing error bringing (6-1). In the fourth inning with one
on base Farrelly would single to left field plating another for the
Dolphins advancing their lead to 7-1. The Dolphins would never look
back as they increased their lead by scoring two more runs from
Emma Murphys single to left field. The game would end in fifth
inning with a final score of 9-1
Jenna Vanacore would take her third win of the season against C.W.
Post, only allowing six hits and striking out four batters in five
innings of play. Farrelly made her mark with three hits and four
RBI’s.

In the Second game of the day the Dolphins would fall to C.W Post
4-1. In the bottom of the first C.W. Post took the lead as they put
a run on the board from Melissa Hippo’s single to right
field. Le Moyne would remain scoreless until the top of the fourth
with Murphy’s single to center field tying the game 1-1. This
wouldn’t be enough as C.W. would plate three more runs in the
bottom of the fourth. This lead would be locked in the victory for
C.W. Post with a final score of 4-1.
Earning the loss for the Dolphins was Caylinn Christophersen in her
3.1 innings of play. This loss brings Christophersen to 2-3 for the
season. Farrlley would close the game only allowing one hit and
striking out two batters in her 2.2 innings of play.
The Dolphins kick off their NE-10 schedule as the travel to
Massachusetts to face S.N Hampshire in a double header Saturday
29th at noon.
