LE MOYNE SWEEPS SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE IN NORTHEAST-10 OPENER

BRIDGEWATER, MA – The Le Moyne softball teamed opened up the Northeast-10 Conference schedule in impressive fashion as the Dolphins swept Southern New Hampshire on Saturday. With the wins, the Dolphins improve to 13-7, (2-0 NE-10) on the season. The Penman fall to 3-6, (0-2 NE-10).

In game one, the Dolphins would score five runs in the top of the second inning, highlighted by a two-run homerun by Jennifer Farrelly, en route to an 8-2 victory. Caitlin O’Neill added three hits on four plate appearances. Bailey Phillips, Kimberlee Baker and Lyndsey Balinskas each added two hit for Le Moyne. Senior Sarah Reed earned her fifth win of the season in the circle pitching six shutout innings, scattering seven hits and striking out four.

The Dolphins rallied in the top of the seventh inning to capture a 9-7 victory in game two. Down 7-6 with three outs remaining, RBI singles by Farrelly, Baker and Balinskas propelled the Dolphins to victory. Pacing the 14-hit attack was Reed with four hits and two RBI. Kelly Schweikert added three hits, two runs and RBI. Farrelly also added two hits. Caylinn Christophersen picked up the win in relief of Jenna Vanacore.

The Dolphins’ scheduled doubleheader with St. Anselm has been canceled for Sunday due to poor field and weather conditions. Le Moyne opens their home schedule on Saturday, April 5th as they host AIC in a doubleheader at 1:00 PM.
