SIX DOLPHINS EARN NORTHEAST-10 ALL-ACADEMIC HONORS

SOUTH EASTON, MA – Six Le Moyne College softball student-athletes have been honored by the Northeast-10 Conference as members of the annual All-Academic team. Junior Lyndsey Balinskas and senior Sarah Reed were named to the first team. Sophomore Bailey Phillips and junior Jennifer Farrelly were name second team honorees. Third team honors were given to senior Caylinn Christophersen and sophomore Kelly Schweikert.

Through 38 games, the Dolphins have compiled a 30-8 record and have won 17 of 18 conference games.

For the third consecutive season, Sarah Reed has earned All-Academic honors. Currently, Reed currently leads the conference with a .450 batting average, RBI’s, runs scored, doubles and total bases. In the circle, Reed has registered n 8-2 record with a 3.07 ERA.

Junior Lyndsey Balinskas earned All-Academic honors for the second straight season as she has compiled a .300 batting average with two doubles and four RBI’s.

Jennifer Farrelly earned second team All-Academic honors for the first time. The junior utility player has hit .300 at the plate and is tied for the team lead in home runs with five. In the circle, Farrelly had a 2.12 ERA in 17 appearances. She also leads the team in saves with two.

Sophomore second baseman Bailey Phillips is currently fifth on the team in batting with a .359 batting average. Phillips is first on the club in stolen bases with six.

Senior Caylinn Christophersen is tied for the team lead in appearances (16) and games started (11). In that time, Christophersen has compiled a 7-3 record with a 3.17 ERA. She has registered 39 strikeouts in 57.1 innings of work.

Kelly Schweikert is currently third on the team in batting with a .385 average. The sophomore short stop has driven in 20 runs while registering four home runs and nine doubles. She is second on the team in stolen bases with three and is third in slugging percentage (.557).

To be eligible for selection to the academic teams, a student-athlete must have met
and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements: 1) participated in at least half of the team’s competitions and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.2 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale); and 3) completed at least one academic year at his/her current institution. The Northeast-10 All-Academic Teams are chosen by a vote of the Northeast-10 Sports Information Directors.
