C.W. POST RALLIES TO DEFEAT LE MOYNE 4-3 IN DAY FOUR OF
NCAA REGIONAL.
BROOKVILLE, NY – The C.W. Post Pioneers rallied from a 3-1
deficit in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat Le Moyne 4-3
on day four of the NCAA Regional. The loss drops the Dolphins to
the loser’s bracket as they will face New Haven on
Sunday at 11:00 AM.
C.W. Post got on the board first with a run in the bottom of the
second inning when Holly Eringis doubled down the right field line
to plate Melissa Hippo. Le Moyne evened the score at 1-1 in the
fifth on a Bailey Phillips RBI sacrifice fly. The ‘Phins took
a 3-1 lead in the top half of the sixth as Kelly Schweikert
connected for two-run home run to left field.
The Pioneers rallied in their last at-bat loading the bases to open
the seventh. A Christie Softy base on balls forced in a run to
close the gap to 3-2 and a fielder’s choice by Hippo knoted
the game at 3-3. C.W. Post pushed across the winning run on a
Dolphin fielding error to take the game 4-3.
Samantha Yodowitz earned the win in the circle with the complete
game four-hitter. Le Moyne’s Jenna Vancaore pitched five
innings, allowing four hits and one earned run. Junior Caitlin
O’Neill connected for two hits on the afternoon.
The Dolphins will prepare to face New Haven on Sunday at 11:00 AM with the winner to face C.W. Post at 3:00 PM for the regional championship and berth into the Softball World Series.
