SBALL: DOLPHINS MOVE TO 7-1 WITH TWO REGIONAL
WINS
KISSIMMEE, FL – The Le Moyne College softball team moved to
7-1 on the season with two victories over regional opponents on
Wednesday. The Dolphins opened the day with a late-inning rally to
defeat Dowling College 4-3. Le Moyne shutout C.W. Post 3-0 behind
another strong pitching performance by sophomore Jenna
Vanacore (Hicksville, NY / Holy Trinity).
Behind a complete game by senior Jennifer Farrelley
(Latham, NY / Shaker) and a late inning rally, the
Dolphins defeated Dowling College 4-3. In their last at-bat, Le
Moyne scratched for two runs as Bailey Phillips (Rochester,
NY / Greece-Arcadia) and freshman Leah Ford
(Pulaski, NY / Pulaski) scored on a combination of Dolphin
hits and Golden Lion miscues. Farrelley closed the door in the
seventh to pick up the victory.
In the second game of the afternoon, the Dolphins capitalized on
four Pioneer miscues to push across three runs. The Dolphins got on
the board first in the bottom of the first inning as junior Bailey
Philips scored on a fielding error. The ‘Phins would strike
for two more runs in the fifth inning when Danielle
VanGorder (Vestal, NY / Vestal) scored on a Phillips
single along with a C.W. Post fielding error. Phillips would come
around to score on a single by freshman Barbara Shea
(Clifton Park, NY / Shenendehowa). Jenna Vanacore shined
again in the circle pitching a complete game with eight
strikeouts.
Following a day off on Thursday, the Dolphins return to action on
Friday as they take on Southern Indiana at 9:00 AM and Minnesota
