SB: KELCIE CASHEL NAMED NE-10 FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
South Easton, Mass. - Le Moyne College freshman Kelcie
Cashel (Lacona, N.Y./Sandy Creek) has been named the
Northeast-10 Conference softball freshman of the week, as announced
by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Cashel, who started a pair of games at second base and a game as
the designated player, picks up the first weekly honor of her
career after going 8-for-10 with four runs scored and four stolen
bases in Le Moyne's 4-0 week. Cashel opened the week by going
2-for-2 with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base in Le Moyne's
6-0 win at Saint Rose on Thursday evening. In her first career
start at second base, Cashel went 3-for-4 with a run batted in, a
run scored and a stolen base in the Dolphins' 12-1 five-inning
victory over Saint Michael's on Saturday. In the second game of the
doubleheader with Saint Michael's, Cashel was 3-for-3 with a
double, two stolen bases and two runs scored in a 9-0 five-inning
victory.
On the season, Cashel is hitting .350 (14-for-40) with eight runs
scored and six stolen bases in 22 appearances, including 12
starts.
Le Moyne (23-7, NE-10 11-1), which has won seven consecutive
conference games and is ranked first in the latest NCAA East
Regional rankings, returns to action on Wednesday, April 15 against
Southern Connecticut State at 1:00 p.m.
