SB: CAITLIN O'NEILL AND JENNIFER FARRELLY PICK UP NORTHEAST-10
WEEKLY HONORS
South Easton, Mass. - Le Moyne College seniors Caitlin
O'Neill (Pittsford, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) and
Jennifer Farrelly (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) have
garnered Northeast-10 Conference softball weekly honors, as
announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
O'Neill, named the conference's player of the week for the first
time this season, hit .750 (6-for-8) with two doubles and a run
batted in to lead the Dolphins to three victories at the NCAA East
Regional as Le Moyne advances to the East Super Regional this
upcoming weekend. O'Neill, a second team all-conference catcher,
opened the regional with two hits against Dominican on Friday in a
3-2 victory. After posting a double in Le Moyne's 2-1 win over
Caldwell in the semi-finals on Saturday, O'Neill capped the
regional with three hits, including a double, and drove in a run in
her team's 7-1 victory over the Cougars in the finals.
Farrelly, selected as the conference's pitcher of the week for the
second time this season, hit .429 (3-for-7) at the plate with a
double, a home run, two RBI and a run scored, while going 1-0 with
a save and a 0.70 ERA in 10 innings pitched in Le Moyne's 3-0 week.
Farrelly, the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Year, tossed
three innings to pick up the save, while allowing just an unearned
run, in the 2-1 victory over Caldwell on Saturday. Farrelly, who
started the game in the pitcher's circle in the regional final
against Caldwell, went 3-for-3 with a double, a home run and an RBI
in the batter's box and struck out five batters over seven innings
to record her 18th victory of the season in the 7-1 win over the
Cougars.
Le Moyne (43-10), which has won 12 consecutive games and 20 of its
last 21, will host Georgian Court this weekend in the NCAA East
Super Regional. The best-of-three series will begin on Friday with
a single game starting at 1:00 p.m. The series will continue on
Saturday at 11:00 a.m., with the "if necessary" game following at
1:30 p.m. The Dolphins will be playing Georgian Court for the first
