LE MOYNE VOLLEYBALL SWEPT ON SECOND DAY OF WILMINGTON
INVITATIONAL
New Castle, Del. - The Le Moyne College volleyball team dropped a
pair of matches on Saturday, Aug. 30 on the final day of
Wilmington’s Wildcat Invitational.
In their opening match of the morning, the Dolphins dropped a
five-set match to East Stroudsburg, 3-2. The Warriors took the
opening set 25-21, before the Dolphins countered with a 25-10
victory in the second set. East Stroudsburg rebounded to take the
third set, 25-17. Le Moyne won the fourth set by a score of 25-22,
but lost the decisive fifth set, 15-11.
In the final match of the invitational, Wilmington topped the
Dolphins, 3-1. The Wildcats took the first set, 25-14, but Le Moyne
bounced back to take the second set, 29-27. Wilmington responded to
take the third and fourth sets, 25-21 and 25-17, for the
victory.
Following the conclusion of the tournament, junior all-conference
outside hitter Elizabeth Cheek (Huntington Beach,
Calif./Rosary) was named to the all-tournament team.
Le Moyne (1-3) returns to the court on Saturday, Sept. 6 at Molloy
at 1 p.m against Caldwell and against the host Lions at 3 p.m.
