VBALL: DOLPHINS DROP NE-10 MATCH TO BENTLEY IN STRAIGHT SETS

Syracuse, N.Y. - Three players landed six kills each but the Le Moyne College volleyball team fell in three games to Bentley University in Northeast-10 Conference action at Ted Grant Court. The Falcons swept the Dolphins: 25-13, 25-20, 25-19.

Junior Elizabeth Cheek (Huntington Beach, Calif./Rosary), sophomore Amanda Kershner (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C. W. Baker) and sophomore Krista Prentice (Amherst, N.Y./Sweet Home) each netted six kills for Le Moyne. The trio accounted for all three of the Dolphins' blocks. Junior Kaylin Brainerd (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) aided the Le Moyne cause with 19 assists and the lone ace for the home team.

Bentley (19-10, NE-10 11-2) built an 11-point advantage in the first game at 16-5 and never looked back. The Falcons started hot in game two by jumping out to an 8-3 advantage. But Le Moyne answered with six-point rally to take a 9-8 lead. The two teams traded five straight points but it was Bentley that grinded out a five-point win in the game. The Falcons took game three with an 11-5 run down the stretch.

Kristine Mickelson paced Bentley with seven kills while Alaura Berry and Alex Kearney each finished with five. Kelly Mee and Tori Piskulick contributed 11 assists and 10 assists, respectively, and Piskulick put home a match-best four aces on the evening. The Falcons piled up nine blocks in the win, including three each from Berry and Mickelson.

Le Moyne (14-11, NE-10 7-6) returns to action at noon on Saturday when they host conference foe Merrimack in the final home match of the regular season. Prior to Saturday's match, the team will honor its three-member senior class of Kristin Cobb (Cincinnatus, N.Y./Cincinnatus), Caitlin Richardson (Victor, N.Y./Victor) and Jodi Smith (Angola, N.Y./Eden).
