ELIZABETH CHEEK NAMED NORTHEAST-10 CONFERENCE
VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
South Easton, Mass. - Senior outside hitter Elizabeth Cheek
(Huntington Beach, Calif./Rosary) was named the
Northeast-10 Conference volleyball player of the week, as announced
by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Cheek, named the player of the week for the first time this season
and for the fifth time in her career, landed 30 kills and recorded
41 digs over eight games to lead the Dolphins to a pair of road
conference victories. Cheek posted 18 digs and six kills in a 3-0
win at Southern New Hampshire on Saturday afternoon. The three-time
all-conference selection registered 24 kills and 23 digs in Le
Moyne's 3-2 come-from-behind win at Franklin Pierce on Sunday. With
her first kill against the Ravens, Cheek became the program's
all-time leader in kills. She eclipsed the previous record of 1,226
set by Lindsey Fattey '06 during the 2005 season.
Le Moyne (16-8, NE-10 8-5), which has won five of its last six
conference matches, close out the regular season with a pair of
home conference matches next weekend. The Dolphins host Bentley on
Saturday at 12:00 p.m. and Stonehill on Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
