LE MOYNE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL DRAWS SAINT ROSE FOR FIRST ROUND OF
NORTHEAST-10 CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Le Moyne College women's
basketball team will travel to Saint Rose on Sunday for the first
round of the Northeast-10 Conference Women's Basketball tournament.
The 11th-seeded Dolphins (11-16, 7-15 NE-10) and sixth-seeded
Golden Knights (16-11, 12-10 NE-10) are scheduled for a 2 p.m. tip
in Albany.
The Dolphins have won the last two meetings between the two New
York State Thruway rivals. Le Moyne topped Saint Rose 76-68 at home
on Dec. 10 in the only meeting between the two teams this
season. Sophomore Kim Wagoner (Cicero, N.Y./C-NS)
scored 21 points and freshman Vanessa Holden (Suffern,
N.Y./Immaculate Heart) added 18 in the win. Last season,
Andrea Pluchino (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) scored
23 points to lift Le Moyne to a 64-52 win at Saint Rose.
Teams seeded fifth through 12th square off in the first round of
the Northeast-10 Conference tournament. The top four seeds receive
byes for the first round and host quarterfinal games on Tuesday at
7 p.m.
The Dolphins have qualified for the league tournament in five of
the last six seasons under head coach Jeanne Dupree '95. Le Moyne
has not won a Northeast-10 Conference tournament game since
advancing to the conference championship in 2002.
