LE MOYNE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CLOSES OUT 2006 WITH NON-CONFERENCE GAME AT MERCYHURST
ERIE, Pa. - For the second time this season, Le Moyne (4-6) and Mercyhurst (4-6) will square off tonight in a non-conference women's basketball game. This time, the two teams will meet at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center at 7 p.m. tonight. In the season-opener, Le Moyne downed the visiting Lakers 60-48.
Junior Kim Wagoner (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) scored 16 points to lead three Dolphins in double figures in the season-opening win. Senior guard Lindsay Carr (Bronx, N.Y./Preston) scored 13 points and sophomore transfer Katie Dunn (Whippany, N.J./Morris Catholic) scored 11 in her Le Moyne debut. Senior Lindsay Ellis (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds as Le Moyne outrebounded its guests 38-36. The Dolphins were 26-of-33 (78.8%) from the free throw line.
Stephanie Prischak paced Mercyhurst with a game-high 20 points on a 9-for-16 effort from the field. The Lakers were limited to a 15-for-54 (27.8%) effort from the field, but managed 15-of-17 (88.2%) from the free throw line. Julie Anderson made a game-high seven steals, but Mercyhurst forced Le Moyne into 26 turnovers, but the Lakers committed 23 of their own.
Wagoner leads Le Moyne in the scoring column with 12.9 points per game. Dunn has scored 11.5 per outing and freshman Courtney Coryea (Mooers Forks, N.Y./Northeastern Clinton) brings a 10.3 per game scoring average into tonight's action. Coryea leads the Dolphins with 6.8 rebounds per game.
Le Moyne will take a break for the holidays and return to action on January 4 with a home contest against LIU-C.W. Post.
