LE MOYNE TOPS AIC 63-60 IN OVERTIME
SYRACUSE, NY - Led by sophomore Courtney Coryea's 17 points and six rebounds, the Dolphins (4-4, 3-4) defeated AIC (5-3, 4-3) 63-60 in overtime at Ted Grant Court. Two free-throws by Kim Wagoner in the final seconds secured the victory as Le Moyne snaped a four game losing streak.
In the first half, the Dolphins jumped out to a quick 12-2 advantage over the Yellow Jackets with three-pointers by Wagoner and Jacquelin Precious. AIC would respond to take a three point lead with just under eight minutes to play in the first half. Both teams would trade baskets the remainder of the first period as the Dolphins would cling to a one point lead going into the intermission.
The Dolphins would open the second half with baskets by Wagoner and Precious to open up an eight point advantage. As in the first half, AIC would claw back to tie the game at 43-43 with under 11 minutes to play. With the Dolphins down one point at 56-55, Le Moyne freshman Brandy Wangelin converted on one free throw to tie the game and send the match to overtime.
In overtime, with the game tied at 60-60, AIC was whistled for technical foul as the Yellow Jackets attempted to call a time-out without any remaining. Kim Wagoner would convert on two from the charity stripe with two seconds remaining to secure the victory.
Precious joined Wagoner and Coryea in double figures with 11 points. Wangelin collected a career-high nine rebounds to help the Dolphins' cause. AIC was led by Stacy Boisvert's 22 points and 11 rebounds.
Le Moyne is back in action on Tuesday, December 18th as the host Bloomfield at 6:00 PM.
