MURPHY NETS CAREER-HIGH 20 AS DOLPHINS DROP GOLDEN FALCONS, 61-33

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College women’s basketball team upended Felician College, 61-33, at Ted Grant Court on the strength of a stifling defensive presence. Megan Murphy netted a career-high 20 points for the Dolphins (5-5, 3-4 NE-10) in the non-conference affair. Dee Dee Smith paced the Golden Falcons (2-8, 0-2 CACC) with 10 points.

Both teams struggled to find offensive rhythm in the first half. After the Golden Knights tallied the first points of the game, the Dolphins rattled off a 16-point run highlighted by two three-pointers from Murphy. Le Moyne’s defense, which surrendered just 13 first-half points, was anchored by eight boards and four blocks from Siobhan Shields in the first start of her career. Murphy and Danielle Felice each collected five steals.

Rhiannon Berry, Courtney Coryea and Brandy Wangelin anchored strong play in the low post for the Dolphins. The trio combined for 26 points and 15 rebounds.

Le Moyne travels to Cheney College for a 6 p.m. meeting on Jan. 2. The Dolphins return to Ted Grant Court to host Assumption in Northeast-10 Conference action on Jan. 5. Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m. -Mike Bersani '10
