LE MOYNE FALLS DESPITE KATHLEEN GLADSTONE'S CAREER-HIGH 20 POINTS.
SYRACUSE, NY- The Le Moyne College women's basketball team fell to Stonehill Saturday afternoon by the score of 63-58. This brings Le Moyne to an overall record of 10-11 overall, 7-10 in the Northeast-10. With the win, Stonehill improves 16-4 overall with a record of 12-3 in the Northeast-10 conference.
The Dolphins used red-hot shooting and stingy defense in the first half to build a commanding 36-19 advantage. In the first period the Dolphins connected on 50% (15-30) of their attempts from the floor and held the Skyhawks to seven field goals.
Stonehill charged back to start the second half as the Skyhawks closed the gap to nine points at 43-34 following a seven-minute, 15-5 run. Stonehill would tie the game at 51-51 on the efforts of Kelsey Simonds' 18 second-half points. Following a three-pointer by Kathleen Gladstone and a three-point play by Courtney Coryea, the Dolphins held a five point advantage at 58-53 with 2:39 remaining. The Skyhawks would score the final 10 points in regulation, highlighted by Simonds' final two points of the day that gave Stonehill the lead for good
The Dolphins were led by junior Kathleen Gladstone who tied a career-high with 20 points on 9-of-12 shooting. Courtney Coryea added nine points and nine rebounds.
Simonds scored a game-high of 24 points and 10 rebounds for Stonehill. Kristen McWhirter and Erika Stupinski added 11 points each.
Le Moyne returns to action on Tuesday, February 5th
as they host Pace at Ted Grant Court.
