GLADSTONE’S CAREER HIGH LEADS DOLPHINS TO 57-54
VICTORY OVER UMASS-LOWELL
LOWELL, MA - Junior Kathleen Gladstone led the
Dolphins with a career high 22 points, including key free-throws in
the final minutes as Le Moyne defeated UMass-Lowell 57-54. The
Dolphins featured pink uniforms for this conference match in
support of the nation-wide ‘Think Pink’ initiative.
With the victory, the Dolphins improve to 12-11 overall, 9-10 in
the Northeast-10 Conference. The River Hawks fall to 10-13, 5-16 in
the NE-10.
The Dolphins jumped out to a 34-26 advantage after the first 20
minutes of play. The offense was keyed by two 3-pointers by Junior
Katie Dunn. In addition to Kathleen Gladstone’s nine
first-half points, she sparked a defense that created 16 River
Hawks turnovers.
Le Moyne used three consecutive baskets by Courtney Coryea to open
the second half and would build their lead to as many as 16 at
42-26. UMass-Lowell responded with a 20-0 run led on the back of
3-pointers by Rahshala Valentine and Krissy Little.
Gladstone, who as recorded 20 or more points in three consecutive
games, would respond for the Dolphins scoring 11 of the final 15
points for the Dolphins as she connected on 5-of-6 free-throws in
the final minute to secure the victory.
The Dolphins return to action on Saturday, February 16th as Le
Moyne hosts St. Anselm in the regular season home finale. Jeanne
Dupree’s team will be outfitted in special pink uniforms to
support the ‘Think Pink” initiative of the WBCA’s
to support breast cancer awareness.
