LE MOYNE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SELECTED SIXTH IN NORTHEAST-10 CONFERENCE PRESEASON POLL

South Easton, Mass. - The Le Moyne College women's basketball team has been selected to finish sixth in the Northeast-10 Conference standings, as voted on by the league's 15 head coaches. Franklin Pierce University, the defending regional champion, was picked to win its first regular season title and received 12 of the possible 15 first-place votes for 222 total points, as announced by the conference on Thursday, Oct. 23.

Stonehill, the regular season champion last year, garnered the final three first-place votes to finish second with 211 points. Bentley was tabbed third after receiving 191 points, while Assumption earned 183 points to finish fourth. Saint Rose received 143 points to cap off the top-third of the standings.

The Dolphins, who advanced to the quarterfinals of the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament for the first time since 2002 last year, garnered 129 points to place sixth in the poll. Southern New Hampshire followed with 120 points to finish seventh, while Pace recorded 114 points for an eighth-place finish. American International edged out UMass Lowell, 90-89, to capture ninth place in the poll. Conference newcomer New Haven tied Saint Michael's for 11th place with 77 points, while Southern Connecticut State (73), Merrimack (46) and Saint Anselm (35) were selected to round out the standings.

Le Moyne returns 11 letterwinners, including four starters, from last year's 15-13 squad. The Dolphins are led by junior all-conference selection Courtney Coryea (Mooers Forks, N.Y./Northeast Clinton). Coryea, named to the conference's Second Team as a sophomore, finished second on the team in scoring at 12.0 points per game and was the rebounding leader with 8.0 rebounds per game last season. Senior guard Kathleen Gladstone (Cleveland, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) posted 10.6 points and 3.4 assists per game during her junior campaign, while senior forward Vanessa Holden (Suffern, N.Y./Immaculate Heart (N.J.)) recorded 7.6 points and 6.0 rebounds per contest.

The Dolphins open the season on Saturday, Nov. 15 against Pitt.-Johnstown at 1:00 p.m. as part of the Golden Bear Classic at Kutztown University. The Northeast-10 Championship begins on Sunday, March 1 with First Round action and concludes on Sunday, March 8 with the championship final.
