WBB: DOLPHINS FALL TO SAINT ROSE, 57-51, AT NOLAN GYM


Albany, N.Y. - Dana Brown scored 11 of his game-high 15 points in the second half to lead The College of Saint Rose to a 57-51 Northeast-10 Conference win over the Le Moyne College women's basketball team on Tuesday night at Nolan Gym.

Brown hit 4-of-6 shots in the second half, including her only three-point attempt. She was joined in twin-figures by Amy Voelkel, who tallied 11 points and 10 rebounds off the bench. Ashley Anderson recorded a game-best 12 rebounds, including eight in the first half. Junior guard Megan Murphy (Clinton Corners, N.Y./Millbrook) led the Dolphins with a season-high 12 points off the bench. Junior forward Courtney Coryea (Mooers Forks, N.Y./Northeast Clinton) registered a team-high nine rebounds to go along with nine points. Senior forward Vanessa Holden (Suffern, N.Y./Immaculate Heart (N.J.)), named the conference's player of the week on Monday, scored eight points and grabbed seven rebounds.

Senior guard Katie Dunn (Whippany, N.J./Morris Catholic/Holy Family) hit a pair of three-pointers around two free throws by Saint Rose's Lauren Revesz to knot the score at 30 with 15:08 remaining in the game. After the Golden Knights regained the lead on a layup by Brown, sophomore guard Danielle Felice (Adams, N.Y./South Jefferson) hit a shot from three-point range to give the Dolphins the lead for the final time at 33-32.

The Golden Knights took the lead for good with five straight points and 15 of the game's next 17 points to take a 47-35 lead with 7:24 remaining in the game. Brown recorded eight points in the streak, including a three-pointer to cap it. Coryea ended Saint Rose's streak with a three-pointer from the top of the key, before Voelkel responded with her second three-pointer of the game. Le Moyne used a 13-7 run over the final six and one-half minutes, but could get no closer than the final scoring margin. Murphy hit a pair of foul shots and jumper to close out the scoring for the Dolphins.

After second-year graduate student Jacquelin Precious (Fonthill, Ontario/Governor Simcoe/St. Peter's College) hit a pair of free throws to give the Dolphins a 7-4 lead with 15:47 remaining in the first half, Saint Rose went on a 19-7 run to push out to a nine point lead. Voelkel tallied five points in the streak, while Elizabeth Buckley added four points.

Sophomore guard Ashley McFarlan (Kennesaw, Ga./St. John the Baptist) answered with a three-pointer from the left wing to end Saint Rose's 10-0 run. Buckley hit a three-pointer of her own as the Golden Knights regained their nine point lead with 5:13 remaining in the stanza. Le Moyne responded with a 7-0 run of its own to pull within two points with 2:39 left in the half. Murphy drilled a three-pointer and Coryea hit a pair of free throws and a layup to bring the Dolphins to within 26-24. Anderson gave Saint Rose a 28-24 halftime lead with a jumper with 40 seconds remaining

Le Moyne (13-11, NE-10 10-9), which had its two-game winning streak snapped, fell a half-game behind the Golden Knights for seventh place in the Northeast-10 Conference standings. The Dolphins close out their regular season home schedule on Saturday with a game against Saint Anselm at 1:00 p.m.
