WBB: COURTNEY CORYEA NAMED TO NORTHEAST-10 CONFERENCE SECOND
TEAM
South Easton, Mass. - Le Moyne College junior forward
Courtney Coryea (Mooers Forks, N.Y./Northeast
Clinton) has been named to the 2008-09 women's basketball
All-Northeast-10 Conference Second Team, as voted upon by the
league's 15 head coaches and announced on Friday morning.
Coryea, named to the conference's second team for second
consecutive season, lead the Dolphins in scoring and rebounding.
Coryea's 13.5 points per game rank her 16th in the conference in
scoring, while she ranks ninth in rebounds at 7.9 per game. Coryea,
who has scored in double figures in 19 of 27 games played and
registered double digit rebounds in nine games, has posted a
team-best six double-doubles on the season. In Le Moyne's 54-49 win
over Southern New Hampshire on January 3, Coryea tallied a
career-best 26 points, including 19 in the second half. In a
one-point loss against New Haven on November 22, Coryea grabbed a
career-high 18 rebounds, the most by a Dolphin since the 2002.
Through 83 career games, Coryea has scored 973 points and grabbed
635 rebounds, which places her 14th in points and seventh in
rebounds in Le Moyne's history. Coryea is one of just six players
in Le Moyne's 33-year history to record at least 900 career points
and grab 600 career rebounds, only the second of which to
accomplish the feat in her junior season.
Le Moyne (15-12, NE-10 12-10), which closed the regular season
with seven wins in its final 10 games, opens the Northeast-10
tournament on Sunday against ninth-seeded Southern New Hampshire at
2:00 p.m. The Dolphins defeated the Penman, 54-49, on January 3rd
in the two team's only meeting of the season.
