MAAC Announces 2007 Women's Lacrosse Awards
New Rochelle, NY - Le Moyne College senior Amanda Keegan (Marcellus, NY) has been selected Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Year, while Fairfield University junior Mary Vallely (Ayer, Mass.) earned Defensive Player of the Year honors to headline the 2007 Women's Lacrosse All-MAAC Teams, as voted by the league's head coaches.
Additionally, Marist's Elizabeth Falco (Yorktown Heights, NY) was tabbed Rookie of the Year, while her coach, Noelle Cebron, earned Anaconda Sports Coach of the Year honors.
Keegan, a 5-9 Midfielder, led the conference in points this season, scoring a league high 69 points for an average of 4.06. Against Manhattan, she scored six goals and assisted on another six for a total of twelve points. That outburst is the fourth best scoring performance in the country this season. Keegan also ranks fourth in the conference in goals per game with 2.71. She also earned three Offensive Player of the Week selections this season.
Vallely finished second in the conference in ground balls per game, picking up 2.94. Her efforts on the defensive end yielded 36 caused turnovers, helping the Stags finish second in the league as a team in caused turnovers. Vallely earned Defensive Player of the Week honors once this season.
Marist's Falco finished the regular season tied for the best goals per game average in the conference at 3.21. She also led her team in goals with 45 and finished second on the team in points with 90. Falco averaged 6.43 shots per game, which helped produce her 3.64 points per game average. She earned four Rookie of the Week selections this season.
Under the leadership of Cebron, the Red Foxes earned four more victories than last season and a berth in this week's championship tournament. Additionally, Cebron's coaching efforts produced a team that finished the regular season leading the conference in goals per game, assists per game, ground ball per game, points per game, shots per game and caused turnovers per game.
Earning selections on the All-MAAC First Team are Le Moyne's Kylie Rosette (Watertown, NY), Manhattan's Alicia Psillos (Plainview, NY) and Marist's Alison Carnabuci (Albertson, NY) all at attack. Joining Keegan and Falco at midfield is Marist's Lindsey Diener (Nanuet, NY). Vallely is joined at defense by Le Moyne's Kristen Malecki (Baldwinsville, NY) and Siena's Sarah Elliott (Shoreview, Minn.). In goal are Fairfield's Lauren Chatnik (Schenectady, NY) and Le Moyne Samantha Falcone (Syracuse, NY).
