WLAX: DOLPHINS FALL IN DOUBLE OVERTIME AT MANHATTAN, 14-13

Riverdale, N.Y. - Chrissy Gutenberger scored two goals, including the game winner with just 31 seconds left, in the second overtime to give Manhattan a 14-13 win over Le Moyne on Sunday.

The Dolphins were led by Rebekah Elmer (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) with five points, while the trio of Nerissa Barzee (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Baldwinsville), Mia Valletta (Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskayuna) and Jackie Lundblad (Marietta, N.Y./Marcellus) all tallied three points a piece. Le Moyne is now 0-3 on the season, while Manhattan picked up their first win to improve to 1-1.

The Dolphins started things off quickly with two goals in the first minute by Michelle Phillips (Johnson City, N.Y./Maine Endwell) and Valletta. Manhattan then rattled off three goals before Elmer netted her first goal of the day with less than 11 minutes left in the half to tie it up at three. Each team scored a goal in the final 10 seconds of the half as Valletta scored her second goal of the game with 10 seconds left. Manhattan's Caralyn Hickey followed with a goal as time expired to send the game tied at five goals apiece into halftime.

The Jaspers came out of halftime scoring the game's next seven of eight goals to take a commanding 12-6 lead with just under 11 minutes left of the game. It was at that point when the Dolphins made a furious comeback. Le Moyne scored six unanswered goals, led by Barzee's three goals in the span. Lundblad netted the game-tying goal with only 51 seconds remaining to send the game into overtime.

Le Moyne struck first in the extra session, with Valetta scoring the last of her three goals with 17 seconds left in the first overtime period. Manhattan answered the Dolphins goal just over two minutes after and tacked on one more that turned out to be the game winner.

Freshman goalkeeper Kelly Fucillo (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) played the games entire 66 minutes and recorded 20 saves and led the team with 12 groundballs.

Le Moyne will be back in action on Thursday, March 5th when Detroit Mercy will travel to Syracuse to take on the Dolphins at 4:00 p.m.
