WLAX: DOLPHINS CRUISE PAST NIAGARA, 13-7, FOR SECOND WIN IN A ROW

Syracuse, N.Y. - Sophomore Rebekah Elmer (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) tallied three goals and one assist and senior McKenzie Gray (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Baldwinsville) added two goals and five assists to lead the Le Moyne College women's lacrosse team to a 13-7 victory over the Niagara Purple Eagles, at Henninger High School on Tuesday night.

Junior Jackie Lundblad (Marietta, N.Y./Marcellus) opened the scoring in the first half with a goal just 32 seconds into the contest. Le Moyne rattled off two more goals before Niagara got on the board with three unanswered goals of their own. From that point on, the Dolphins never looked back. A little more than a minute after the Purple Eagles tied the score at three apiece, Maura Kenville (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) broke the tie with a goal. The Dolphins would never trail again in the game. Nerissa Barzee (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Baldwinsville) got in on the scoring followed by goals from Elmer and Gray to bring the score up to 7-3. Niagara was able to score their first goal in more than 11 minutes to cut the lead down to 7-4, but Gray scored her second goal of the game with 27 seconds remaining in the half to give the Dolphins an 8-4 halftime lead.

Niagara's Vanessa Schultz, who scored four goals on the game, struck first in the second to cut the Dolphin lead to three. Le Moyne then got goals from Elmer and Leah Lazarz (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool). The game's next four goals were traded between both clubs with each scoring two goals for a score of 12-7. Le Moyne's Jennifer Lewis (East Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) tacked on one goal with less than six minutes remaining for the final score of 13-7.

Freshman goalkeeper Kelly Fucillo (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) made six saves to pick up her fourth win on the season to improve to 4-4.

The Dolphins will continue their six-game homestand next weekend on Sunday, March 22 against Vermont at Henninger High School at 2:00 PM.
