BETH HEWITT NAMED HEAD WOMEN'S LACROSSE COACH AT LE MOYNE
COLLEGE
SYRACUSE, NY - Director of Athletics Matt Bassett
announced today the hiring of Beth Hewitt as Head Women's Lacrosse
Coach at Le Moyne College.
"I am thrilled about the opportunity to coach lacrosse at Le Moyne
College and be a part of such a dedicated academic and
athletic institution," said Hewitt. "I am fortunate to be
coaching in my hometown of Syracuse, NY, which is considered one of
the top lacrosse areas in the country. I would like to thank Matt
Basset and the Le Moyne College Athletic Department for giving me
this opportunity and look forward to the success we will
achieve as a program."

"Coach Hewitt offers Le Moyne the unique experience of being an
integral part of the staff at Oregon that was challenged to build a
Division I lacrosse program from scratch and then compete an as
Independent," said Bassett. "I am confident that her ties to
the local community as a native of Liverpool, NY, will help us
maintain our exposure to the lacrosse talent here in the
region."
Hewitt joins Le Moyne following three years as an assistant coach
at the University of Oregon where sh e helped launch Oregon's
program in 2005. At OU, Hewitt held the role of Defensive
Coordinator in addition to her involvement in recruiting the
program's first recruiting classes. Over the program's first three
seasons, Oregon improved their record each season.
Hewitt entered the coaching ranks following a decorated playing
career at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. A
four-year letter winner and midfielder for the Tar Heels, Hewitt
garnered All-American and All-ACC honors during her career. Leading
Carolina in scoring each of her last two seasons, Hewitt helped the
Tar Heels to an ACC title and a berth in the NCAA Final Four.
In addition to receiving her bachelors degree in Communication
Studies at North Carolina and masters degree from Oregon In
Educational Leadership, Hewitt as worked extensively with
Ameriprise Financial as a recruiter, Harrow Sports Inc. in the
field of consulting, and Brine in the area of marketing and sales.
