LE MOYNE WOMEN'S SOCCER TO MEET SAINT ROSE IN NORTHEAST-10 QUARTERFINALS ON TUESDAY AT 3:30 P.M.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - For the first time since the 2000 season, the Le Moyne College women's soccer team has earned a berth in the Northeast-10 Conference tournament. The eighth-seeded Dolphins (8-7-1, 6-7-1 Northeast-10) will meet top seed Saint Rose (15-1-1, 12-1-1 Northeast-10) on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at the University of Albany. [Please note, this is a change from the original venue]

Le Moyne earned its spot in the conference tournament with a 1-1 tie against Southern N.H. on Saturday in a match played at Henninger High School. Senior Lauren Chiacchia (Rensselaer, N.Y./Columbia) scored in the opening half and the Dolphins held on for a tie - which was all the team needed to gain the playoff berth. Saint Rose, ranked No. 6 in the NSCAA Division II national poll, pounded its way to its first-ever Northeast-10 Conference regular season crown with an 8-1 win over American International.

Tuesday's match comes less than one week after the regular season meeting between the two teams. Deanna Wachtel scored the only goal of the second half as Saint Rose dealt Le Moyne a 2-1 setback on October 18 at the Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex. The Dolphins, 6-2-1 at home this season, had knotted the contest at one late in the opening half on a goal from freshman Christina Harrison (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt).

Harrison leads the Dolphins with eight goals and 18 points. Fellow first-year Megan O'Shea (East Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) has totaled 17 points on seven goals and three assists. Sophomore goalkeeper Amanda Abbatiello (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) has posted a 1.64 goals against average, .789 save percentage and five shutouts this season.

The winner of Tuesday's match advances to the semifinal round against the winner of the match between fifth-seeded Merrimack and fourth-seeded Bryant. If Saint Rose wins, it will host on Friday, while Le Moyne would have to hit the road if it advances to the semifinals.
