WSOC: MORANO NETS HAT TRICK IN LE MOYNE'S 5-0 SHUTOUT OF
FELICIAN
Springfield, Mass. - Freshman forward Christie Morano
(Highland, N.Y./Highland) scored three times in the
opening 39 minutes as the Le Moyne College women's soccer team
cruised to its second consecutive shutout with a 5-0 victory over
Felician on the second day of the AIC Soccer Classic at John Homer
Miller Field on Friday afternoon.
Senior forward Megan O'Shea (East Syracuse, N.Y./East
Syracuse-Minoa), who scored twice in Thursday's
season-opening 6-0 win over St. Thomas Aquinas, got the Dolphins on
the board in the fifth minute after taking a pass from sophomore
midfielder Rachel Farneti (Marcellus,
N.Y./Marcellus).
Morano tallied the first of her three goals at the 11:30 mark off a
feed from senior back Courtney Paddock (Baldwinsville,
N.Y./C.W. Baker). Less than three minutes later, O'Shea
knocked in her second goal of the contest following a pass from
classmate Christina Harrison (Jamesville,
N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt).
Morano, who posted two assists in her collegiate debut on Thursday,
completed the game's scoring with a pair of goals 2:35 apart late
in the first half. She converted an unassisted goal at with 9:14
remaining in the stanza and scored off an assist from Harrison to
give the Dolphins a 5-0 advantage.
Sophomore goalkeeper Melissa Stevens (Camillus, N.Y./West
Genesee) did not need to make a save in her 66 minutes of
action. Freshman Kelsey McGee (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings
Park) stopped five shots in her 24 minutes between the
pipes. Shaneil Lorenzo recorded seven saves in the first half for
Felician, while Allie Cuozo registered six saves.
Le Moyne (2-0), which has won 11 straight games in the month of
August, returns to action on Wednesday, September 2 for its home
and conference opener against Southern New Hampshire at 1:00 p.m.
