WSOC: STEVENS AND MORANO HONORED BY NORTHEAST-10
CONFERENCE
South Easton, Mass. - Sophomore goalkeeper Melissa Stevens
(Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) and freshman forward
Christie Morano (Highland, N.Y./Highland) have
earned Northeast-10 Conference women's soccer weekly honors, as
announced by the conference office on Monday, August 31.
Stevens, named the conference's co-goalkeeper of the week, did not
yield a goal in just over 111 minutes in her first two collegiate
starts. In the 6-0 season-opening win against St. Thomas Aquinas at
the AIC Soccer Classic, Stevens made three saves in 45 minutes of
action. Against Felician on Friday, Stevens was not forced to make
a save in 66:07 between the pipes in Le Moyne's 5-0 victory.
Morano, selected as the conference's freshman of the week, tallied
eight points on three goals and two assists in Le Moyne's 2-0 week.
In her collegiate debut, Morano registered a pair of assists in the
6-0 win over St. Thomas Aquinas. Against Felician, Morano recorded
a hat trick in the game's first 38 minutes. She scored her first
career goal at the 11:30 mark off an assist from senior back
Courtney Paddock (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker).
Just over 24 minutes later, Morano recorded an unassisted goal and
completed the contest's scoring 2:35 later after taking a pass from
senior forward Christina Harrison (Jamesville,
N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt).
Le Moyne (2-0), which has scored at least five goals in
consecutive games for the first time in over six seasons, returns
to action on Wednesday, September 2 against Southern New Hampshire
at 1:00 p.m. for its home and conference opener. The contest will
be broadcast live at www.lemoynedolphins.tv.
