WSOC: CATHCART & FABIAN NET GOALS FOR DOLPHINS AS LE MOYNE DEFEATS MILLERSVILLE, 2-0
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Junior Melissa Cathcart (Syracuse, N.Y./Faith Heritage) and freshman Jennifer Fabian (Clay, N.Y./C.W. Baker) each scored a goal to lead the Le Moyne women's soccer team past Millersville 2-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Dolphins outshot Millersville 14-4 and with the win move to 4-1-1 for the season.
Cathcart gave the Dolphins their first goal off a corner kick from senior Courtney Paddock (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Baldwinsville) 21:24 minutes into the first half. Following the corner kick, junior Caitlin O'Rourke (Orchard Park, N.Y./Mt. Mercy Academy) was able to touch the ball to Cathcart who connected from fifteen yards out to score the only goal of the half and her second of the season.
With just under 11 minutes left in the second half, Fabian added to the lead with an unassisted goal and her first of the season. After dribbling down the end line through three defenders, Fabian then beat Millersville's goalie, Brandi Tipton, placing the ball in the back of the net with a shot to the nearside of the goal.
Sophomore goalkeeper Melissa Stevens (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) had one save for her first shutout of the season. Tipton had six saves for the Marauders.
Le Moyne (4-1-1) hosts American International on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
