WSOC: DOLPHINS CLOSE OUT NON-CONFERENCE SCHEDULE WITH 2-1 OVERTIME WIN OVER ROBERTS WESLEYAN ON MORANO'S GAME-WINNER

Syracuse, N.Y. - Freshman forward Christie Morano (Highland, N.Y./Highland) scored her fourth overtime goal of the season to cap the Le Moyne College women's soccer team's rally in a 2-1 overtime win over Roberts Wesleyan in a non-conference match-up on Wednesday afternoon at the Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex.

Le Moyne out-shot the Raiders in the opening half, 12-4, but could not find the back of the net to go into halftime in a scoreless tie. Morano had an opportunity just over a minute into the contest, but her shot went just wide of the far right post.

Just under 12 minutes into the second half, Roberts Wesleyan opened the game's scoring.  Laura Willit took a pass along the right sideline and fed the ball up the middle of the field to Kelsey Medeiros, who outraced the Le Moyne defense and placed a shot into the lower left corner of the goal.

With just over four minutes remaining in the contest, the Dolphins evened the score at one goal apiece. Senior forward Megan O'Shea (East Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa)  dribbled the ball along the endline on the right side of the field and passed the ball towards the middle of the penalty box. Freshman midfielder Jennifer Fabian (Clay, N.Y/Baldwinsville) received the ball on the left side of the goal box and scored inside the left post from six yards out. O'Shea had a shot on goal with just over a minute left, but goalkeeper Amanda Prestigiacomo made the save to keep the score tied.

Morano had a chance to end the game in the second minute of the overtime period, but her shot narrowly went wide of the right post. The conference's top-scoring freshman redeemed herself just over three minutes later with the game-winner. Senior forward Christina Harrison (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) dribbled down the middle of the field and fed the ball to a cutting Morano, who collected the ball, spun to her left and scored underneath a charging Prestigiacomo for her 11th goal of the season.

The Dolphins out-shot the Raiders, 26-13, including 14-9 after halftime, while also holding an 8-2 edge in corner kicks. Sophomore goalkeeper Melissa Stevens (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) made five saves in goal for the Dolphins as Prestigiacomo turned away eight shots for the Raiders.

Le Moyne (10-5-2), which reached double-digit wins for the sixth time in the program's history and for the first time since the 2000 season, travels to Stonehill on Saturday for a key Northeast-10 match-up with the Skyhawks at 11:00 a.m.
