James Henderson is the 35th member of the men's basketball program to be elected to the Hall of Fame. Over a 108-game career, Henderson scored 1554 points, grabbed 722 rebounds and blocked 118 shots as the Dolphins went 73-43. He ranks eighth all-time in points scored and was third on the list at the time of his graduation. His 118 blocked shots are the sixth-most in the program's history, while he trailed only classmate Bill Smolinski following his final game. He is seventh on the field goals made list with 627, a total which placed him third at the end of his career. On the career rebounds chart, Henderson currently ranks 12th and was fifth following his senior season. As a senior, he scored 488 points and pulled down 214 rebounds en route to leading the Dolphins to a 20-10 record. His 488 points rank 19th-most in a single-season in the program's history and were the sixth-most at the time he did it. As a freshman, he blocked 56 shots, the most in the program's history at the time and the ninth-most currently. In addition to leading the team in scoring as a senior, he also did so as a freshman with 384 points.
