Pleasantville, N.Y. – Brittany Shields registered 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead Pace to a 62-46 win over the Le Moyne College women's basketball team on Wednesday night in the Northeast-10 Conference opener for both teams at the Goldstein Fitness Center.

Shields posted 12 of her game-high point total in the opening half, while adding nine of her rebounds in the stanza. Maral Javadifar recorded 12 points for the Setters, while Carol Johnson scored 11 points.

Junior forward Emily Bayly (Schenectady, N.Y./Niskayuna) led the Dolphins offensively with 11 points, all of which came in the opening 20 minutes. Senior forward Katie Hart (Constantia, N.Y./Central Square/Canisius) posted nine rebounds and a game-high 11 rebounds.

Pace opened the game with the first six points and 12 of the first 14 to open up their first double-digit lead of the game. Javadifar led the charge with six points, while Shields added a pair of baskets.

After Shields made a lay-up to give Pace a 16-6 advantage, the Dolphins scored nine straight points and 14 of the game's next 16 points for a 20-18 lead. Sophomore Raven Short (Sterling, Va./Potomac Falls) opened the run with a jumper, junior Torie Lee (Fayetteville, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) followed with a lay-up, senior Morgan Rowland (Latham, N.Y./Shaker/Delaware State) buried a three-pointer and senior center Emma Cronk (Parham, Ontario/Sydenham/Gardner-Webb/Binghamton) made a foul-line jumper to pull the Dolphins within 16-15. After Brianna Harris made a transition lay-up to end Le Moyne's initial run, Bayly scored five straight points on a conventional three-point play and a lay-up for the lead.

Following two Bayly free throws with 4:40 remaining to knot the score at 22, the Setters closed out the half with the final five points. Kera Bretney made a free throw and Shields followed with a lay-up and a jumper for a 27-22 Pace lead at the intermission.

The Dolphins trimmed their deficit to 29-26 just under two minutes into the second half, but the Setters responded with six consecutive points to begin to pull away. Johnson had a conventional three-point play to start the push and Allison Cleary followed with a three-pointer.

After Short drilled a three-pointer to make the score 37-32, Emily Armstrong connected on back-to-back three-pointers and Shields scored in the paint as the Setters extended their lead to double-figures with 12:32 remaining.

Rowland and Ashley Prischak (Erie, Pa./Villa Marie Academy) knocked down three-pointers around a Shields free throw to get the Dolphins within nine, but that's as close as they would get.

The Setters responded with eight of the next nine points to increase their lead to a game-best 16 points with 4:23 left in the contest. The teams traded baskets the remainder of the game to set the final score.
