On July 1, 2013, former Le Moyne College standout Lizzie Cheek '10 officially assumed the role as head coach for the volleyball program. Cheek was elevated to the position following the announced retirement of Ken King back in December.

"It was easy to envision Lizzie transitioning her playing career into a coaching career and to advance through the ranks quickly," said Assistant Vice President and Director of Athletics Matt Bassett. "She is highly focused, committed, hard working, and was a natural leader as a player, and has brought those same characteristics into her approach to coaching. Coach Cheek never played for second-best during her playing career and she brings that talented, spirited, and enthusiastic approach to the program."

"It is truly a dream come true for me to be coaching at my alma mater. I am so excited about this opportunity and want to thank Coach King for all of the knowledge that he has given me over these past two years as his assistant coach," said Cheek. "I hope to continue Coach King's legacy and lead the Dolphins to new heights each year!"

Cheek, who served as the Gradate Assistant for the last two seasons, was named an All-Northeast-10 Conference performer each of her four seasons at Le Moyne.  She is the program's all-time leader in kills with 1284, ranks fourth in points per game with 3.70 and fifth in digs with 1158.

During her two seasons on King's staff, Cheek was involved in all aspects of the program including in-game strategy, recruiting, in-season and out of season training, practice session as well as managed the team's video and scouting software.
