KEEGAN SCORES FOUR, WOMEN'S LACROSSE TOPS BLACKBIRDS, 20-9, FOR EIGHTH WIN IN NINE GAMES

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Junior Amanda Keegan (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) scored four goals and assisted on another to help Le Moyne to a 20-9 win over Long Island University in a non-conference women's lacrosse game at the Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex. The Dolphins (11-3) have won eight of their last nine games.

Keegan, Le Moyne's leading scorer with 36 goals and 49 total points this season, was one of nine Dolphins to score and seven to net two or more goals. Freshman Lisa McCarthy (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) and junior Lauren Byrne (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Ludden) tallied three goals each, while Kylie Rosette (Watertown, N.Y./General Brown), Kristen Malecki (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Baldwinsville), Leah Mazella (Syracuse, N.Y./Henninger) and Liz Hewitt (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) scored two each. Freshman Michelle Lissner (East Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) and sophomore Emily Donnells (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan) also scored one goal each.

The Blackbirds led early, but Le Moyne used a 10-5 run in the opening half to take control of the game. Nichole Lopez scored two of her team-high four goals to stake Long Island to a 3-1 lead in the first four minutes of the game, but McCarthy netted three straight to give the hosts a 4-3 lead with 17:23 left in the opening half. Byrne scored two goals over a 14-second span, the second of which came with 62 seconds remaining, to give Le Moyne an 11-6 lead at the half.

After scoring the final three of the opening half, Le Moyne scored the first seven of the second session to push its lead to 19-6. Mazella flipped home a feed from Keegan to cap the rally and tally Le Moyne's 10th straight goal with 13:23 remaining.

Le Moyne, playing for the fifth time in eight days, moved its home mark to 6-1 for the season. The Dolphins conclude their six-game homestand with a key MAAC game against fellow league-unbeaten Canisius on Friday at 4 p.m.
