SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Senior first baseman Keith Connors (Jamesport, N.Y./Commack) went 3-for-5 with four RBI in the opener and Phil St. Amant (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) belted a two-run home run in the nightcap as Le Moyne swept a baseball doubleheader with Cornell 15-3, 6-4 at Dick Rockwell Field. The Dolphins (20-11) have won 13 of their last 16 and totaled 20 victories for the ninth consecutive season, while the Big Red drop to 8-22 on the season.
Connors highlighted an 11-run sixth-inning with a two-run home run - his third in two games and seventh of the season. Sophomore Robby Perez (Miami, Fla./Belen Jesuit) joined Connors with three hits in the opener. Senior catcher Brian Hansen (Endicott, N.Y./Chenango Valley) went 2-for-4 with three RBI. Sophomore Stephen Crawford (Webster, N.Y./Finger Lakes CC), Michael Affronti (Dix Hills, N.Y./Commack) and Jamie Rose (Hornell, N.Y./Hornell) also had two hits for the Dolphins in the opener.
Freshman Brian Pullyblank (Caledonia, N.Y./Caledonia-Mumford) allowed three runs on five hits over the first five innings for his first career win. He struck out four and walked two. Senior southpaw A.J. Lindsey (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) pitched two scoreless innings for his first of two saves on the afternoon.
In the second game, Cornell jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first. Brant McKown, Ryan Michael and Ry Kagan doubled home the three runs.
After allowing three runs in the first, Le Moyne sophomore starter Adam Leduc (Beaconsfield, Quebec/Loyola) did not allow a hit over the next three innings. The Dolphins rallied with two runs in the second on RBI singles from Crawford and Connors. Le Moyne pushed ahead 4-3 in the third on St. Amant's second home run of the season. With the tying run aboard, Lindsey nailed down his fourth save of the season with a strikeout in the seventh.
The wins complete a season series four-game sweep of Cornell. The Dolphins return to MAAC action on Saturday at St. Peter's.
