SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Junior southpaw Martha Senko (Pine City, N.Y./Elmira Free Academy) pitched her third consecutive shutout in game two as Le Moyne split a softball doubleheader with Bryant at the Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex. Lauren McNiff's two-run home run in the sixth helped Bryant (25-15, 23-5 Northeast-10) win the opener 3-1, while Senko fanned six as Le Moyne (27-17, 19-9 Northeast-10) won the second game 3-0.
Senko (9-3) extended her scoreless streak to 25 and 2/3 innings with an 89-pitch performance in which she did not issue a walk. She scattered hits in the first, fifth and sixth innings and did not allow a runner past second base for her ninth win of the season.
Freshman Caitlin O'Neill (Pittsford, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) singled home classmate Jennifer Farrelly (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) for the only run Le Moyne would need in the bottom of the fourth. The Dolphins tacked on two insurance runs in the sixth. Junior catcher Kristen DesLauriers (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) led off the sixth with a solo home run and senior Ashley Anderson (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) singled home sophomore Kortney Meadows (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) for the third Le Moyne run. O'Neill, the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week, paced Le Moyne with three hits in the second game.
In the opener, McNiff broke a 1-1 tie with her first home run of the season. The No. 8 hitter in the lineup followed up a two-out single to right by Kate Thomas with a blast over the wall in right field. Janine Enos improved to 11-4 with a complete game three-hitter. She struck out six and retired 19 in a row from the first inning until Le Moyne mounted a two-out rally in the seventh.
Le Moyne and Bryant have qualified for the Northeast-10 Conference tournament. The Dolphins will play in a first round game on Friday, while Bryant will receive a bye into Saturday's action as the top seed.
