BLEVINS WINS 10TH, BASEBALL ADVANCES IN ANACONDA SPORTS MAAC BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIP WITH 7-2 WIN OVER NIAGARA

FISHKILL, N.Y. - Junior Bobby Blevins (Briarcliff, N.Y./Briarcliff) struck out six in a complete game effort as Le Moyne advanced past Niagara 7-2 in the Anaconda Sports Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Baseball Championship tournament at Dutchess Stadium. The Dolphins (37-12), have set a new program record for Division I wins in a season and will meet Manhattan on Friday at 3 p.m.

Le Moyne jumped out to a 6-0 lead over the first two innings. Sophomore Robby Perez (Miami, Fla./Belen Jesuit) keyed a four-run first with a two-out double to left center. Senior Keith Connors (Jamesport, N.Y./Commack), who walked four times in the game, drew a leadoff walk and scored in both the first and second innings. He scored on a two-out hit by 2006 MAAC Player of the Year Michael Affronti (Dix Hills, N.Y./Commack) in the second. Affronti made it 6-0 on a two-out double by Ben Gaal (Manlius, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy).

Blevins used just 105 pitches for his fourth complete game of the season. He allowed two runs in the top of the fourth inning, but none in the other eight frames. The win pushed his season record to 10-2 and his career mark to 23-10. He ties the program Division I record for wins in a season and sets the program career wins mark.

Sophomore 3B Stephen Crawford (Webster, N.Y./Finger Lakes CC) had two of Le Moyne's eight hits. Perez and Gaal knocked in two runs each.

Former CNY Player of the Year Jeff Vincent (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Baldwinsville) doubled, drove in one run and scored a run for No. 4 seed Niagara (27-25).

Le Moyne will meet Manhattan, 5-0 winners over Rider, in the winner's bracket game of the tournament on Friday at 3 p.m. The regular season champion Dolphins have won 10 consecutive games, 20 of their last 21 overall and 15 straight against teams from the MAAC.
