WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: SAINT ROSE OVERCOMES EARLY DEFICIT TO DOWN LE
MOYNE 63-47
ALBANY, N.Y. - Suzana Sormaz scored 11 of her 14 points in the
second half as Saint Rose overcame an early deficit to top Le Moyne
63-47 in a Northeast-10 Conference women's basketball game at
Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium. The Dolphins (6-13, 2-12 Northeast-10)
scored 17 of the game's first 21 points, but Saint Rose (15-5, 11-4
Northeast-10) used a 43-18 edge in the second half to win its 15th
game of the season. Katie Dunn (Whippany, N.J./Morris Catholic)
paced Le Moyne with a game-high 18 points.
Le Moyne jumped out to a 17-3 lead in the first eight minutes and
led 29-20 at the half. Mary Lewis' 3-pointer with 10:22 remaining
made it 41-40 in favor of Saint Rose and gave the hosts their first
lead since 2-0. The Golden Knights never looked back, holding Le
Moyne without a field goal over the final 10 minutes and 47
seconds.
Kim Wagoner (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) scored 13
points to join Dunn in double figures for Le Moyne. Wagoner pushed
her career point total to 905 and moved into 14th place on the
program's all-time scoring list. The Dolphins shot 52.2% (12-of-23)
from the field in the opening half, but were held to just five
field goals on 15 second half shots (33.3%). Saint Rose forced the
Dolphins into 25 turnovers and outrebounded its hosts 32-29,
including a 21-11 margin in the second half.
Le Moyne hosts Merrimack on Saturday at 1 p.m.
