LAKE CHARLES, La. - Charlie Kingrey and Shon Landry knocked in two runs each and Bryan Cartie tied a school record with four drawn walks as McNeese State beat
Le Moyne College in the final game of a three-game series at Cowboy Stadium. Sophomore Chris Haynes (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) belted his first career home run for Le Moyne (1-2). McNeese State (2-9) took two of three from the Dolphins in their weekend series.
McNeese, playing in its first home series of the season, scored two runs in each of the fourth, fifth, sixth and eighth innings. Le Moyne collected single runs in the fourth and
ninth frames and plated three in the fifth.
Le Moyne used three pitchers, Eric Beaulac (Troy, N.Y./Troy) starting and going five innings, giving up only one hit but four runs. Freshman Daniel Tunison (Bath, N.Y./Bath-Haverling) relieved in the sixth and was the loser after the Cowboys scored two runs and got one hit off him. Ryan Woods (Jacksonville, Fla./Englewood) pitched the final 2.1 frames giving up four hits and two runs.
The Dolphins kicked the scoring off with a single run in the fourth, Andy Parrino (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) getting on with a single, going to third on a Cowboy error and scoring on a single by Phil St. Amant (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport).
After McNeese moved ahead, Le Moyne took back the lead with three runs in the fifth, a double by Stephen Crawford (Webster, N.Y./Eastridge) plating one run and a double by Mike Brown (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) sending two across the plate.
McNeese tied the score with two in the fifth. The Cowboys final two runs came in the eighth with Landry singling in a pair of runs. Le Moyne's Chris Haynes belted a
solo home run off Davis before the Cowboy closer retired the side. Cartie's four walks in the game tied the McNeese single game record that had been set in Clint Gould in 1993 against UT San Antonio.
Le Moyne travels to Beaumont, Texas for a two-game series at Lamar starting on Tuesday.
