LAMAR USES SIX-RUN FIFTH TO SWEEP TWO-GAME SERIES WITH BASEBALL, 8-2

BEAUMONT, Texas - Dan Hernandez, Brian Lloyd and Jeff Vickers each drove in two runs to help Lamar University post an 8-2 win over Le Moyne College Wednesday night in non-conference baseball action at Vincent-Beck Stadium. Sophomore Chris Haynes (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) knocked in both Le Moyne (1-4) runs.

Lamar improved to 8-3 overall and Le Moyne dropped to 1-4. The Cardinals have won seven straight games, which is their longest streak since the 2004 season when they had a nine-game winning streak.

Le Moyne started the scoring with a run in the top of the first inning. Stephen Crawford (Webster, N.Y./Eastridge) led off the game with a single to center field. Two batters later, Haynes tripled to the base of the wall in straight away center field to drive in Crawford with the game's first run.

Crawford walked to lead off the third inning for the Dolphins. He advanced to second on a ground out by Andy Parrino (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) and stole third base. Haynes singled to right field to drive him with and put Le Moyne up 2-0.

The Cardinals responded with six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Le Moyne starter Brandon Otto (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) took the loss in his first career start. He allowed six runs on eight hits with two walks and two strikeouts. Haynes went 2-for-5 with two RBI to pace the Dolphins at the plate.
