BASEBALL DROPS GAME THREE TO FAIRFIELD, 10-9

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - After a long and rainy day the Le Moyne Dolphins lost game three of a weekend series against the Fairfield Stags.  The one run loss puts the Dolphins in a tie with the Stags in the MAAC standings at 4-2.   Le Moyne drops to 8-15, 4-2 MAAC while Fairfield improves to 5-12, 4-2 MAAC.

Getting the victory today for the Fairfield Stags was senior Ed Kamintzky, while the loss was charged to Michael Gedman (Framingham, Mass. / Loomis Chaffe) for Le Moyne.  Kamintzky went 5.1 innings, giving up five earned runs, while fanning five batters.

Fairfield started the scoring by putting a run across the plate in the top of the first on a sacrifice fly by Brian Rudolph, scoring Albie DeSimone.  The Dolphins came back in the bottom of the second by plating five runners. Ben Gaal (Manlius, N.Y. / CBA) started the bottom of the second with a lead off double to left field, with Matt Nandin (N. Syracuse, N.Y. / C-NS) coming up to the plate next.  Nandin then singled to center to scored Gaal and on a fielding error Nandin moved to third base.  Sean Paino (Wappinger Falls, N.Y. / Roy C Ketcham) singled, scoring Nandin.  Stephen Crawford (Webster, N.Y. / Eastridge) followed and singled to left field to score Alex Del Valle (Miami, Fla. / Englewood).  Three batters later, Phil St. Amant (Brockport, N.Y. / Brockport) double in Crawford and Paino to end Le Moyne's five run inning.

The Stags answered back with a three-run shot to left center field by Rudolph.  Fairfield added two more to their total in the top of the fourth.  The first was scored after a throwing error and the second was brought home on a groundout to third base.  After two scoreless innings Fairfield then increased their lead to three runs on a two out two run homerun by Mike Weiner.  In the top of the eight the Stags scored their final two runs of the game on a two run round tripper by Dave Brizzolara

Le Moyne responded with a four-run rally in the bottom of the eight.  Chris Edmondson (Johnson City, N.Y. / Johnson City) lead off the inning with a solo homerun.  Robby Perez (Miami, Fla. / Belen Jesuit Prep), then followed with a solo shot himself to right center.  Crawford, for the third hit in a row in the inning, singled to left center.  Andy Parrino (Brockport, N.Y. / Brockport) followed with a singled to right field.  During St. Amant's at-bat, Parrino advanced to second and Crawford scored on a past ball.  St. Amant then doubled to bring in Parrino to score their final run of the game.

Sophomore starter Brandon Otto (Syracuse, N.Y. / C-NS) allowed four earned runs on six hits. Gedman relieved Otto in the third inning retiring the side with two strikeouts.  He lasted 4.2 innings, giving up four earned runs on four hits.  Freshman Luke Nellis (Fonda, N.Y. / Fonda-Fulltonville) pitched the final two innings of the game, giving up two runs on two hits, while striking out five batters.  Mike Fournier came in the game in the eight inning to finish the game and record his second save on the season.

The Dolphins return to action Wednesday in a 2 p.m. doubleheader at Cornell.
