WOMEN'S LACROSSE WINS 7TH CONSECUTIVE GAME BY DEFEATING IONA 15-14.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY. - The Le Moyne Dolphins won their seventh consecutive game of the season in defeating the Iona Gaels 15-14. The victory moves the Dolphins to 10-4 on the season and 4-0 in conference; good for first place in the MAAC.  The loss drops Iona to 6-5 for the year and 1-3 in conference.

The high scoring affair began with Iona jumping out to a 2-0 advantage on goals by Rachel O'Leary and Christie Godlewski. Le Moyne countered with Leah Mazella's (Syracuse, N.Y. /Henninger) 10th goal of the season. The two teams traded goals most of the fist half with the Dolphins taking a 6-5 advantage into halftime on a Whitney Vecchio (Watertown, N.Y. /General Brown) goal.

Midway through the second half, Le Moyne took a 12-8 advantage on one of McKenzie Gray's (Baldwinsville, N.Y. /Baldwinsville) two goals of the game. The lead would prove to be short lived as the Gaels pulled even with the Dolphins at 12 on Jaclyn O'Leary's 31st goal of the year. With the game knotted at 13, Amanda Keegan (Marcellus, NY / Marcellus) scored one of her two goals on the day to put the Dolphins ahead for good. Lisa McCarthy (Syracuse, N.Y. /West Genesee) added an insurance goal, pushing the lead to 15-13.

The Dolphins were led on offense by Kylie Rosette's (Watertown, N.Y. /General Brown) four goals and one assist. Vecchio chipped in with three goals and Keegan, Gray and McCarthy added two goals apiece.

The 14 goals allowed by the Le Moyne defense marked the highest total allowed this season. Samantha Falcone (Syracuse, N.Y. /West Genesee) picked up her tenth win of the season as she recorded seven saves.

Le Moyne will return to action on Sunday as the Dolphins travel to play Manhattan at Eastchester High School.  The game is set to start at 10:00 a.m.
