Game Recap: Baseball |

LE MOYNE TAKES TWO FROM MANHATTAN TO MOVE INTO A FIRST PLACE TIE IN THE LOSS COLUMN; WOODS BREAKS SCHOOL SAVE RECORD.

MANHATTAN, N.Y. - Le Moyne College swept Manhattan College in a MAAC doubleheader on Saturday on the Manhattan campus. The Dolphins improve their conference record to 18-3 and move into a tie for first place in the loss column with Manhattan. The Jaspers fall to 19-3 in league.

In game one, the Dolphins were led by Bobby Blevins (Briarcliff, N.Y./Briarcliff) who pitched into the eight inning allowing only two earned runs while scattering five hits. Blevins fanned nine Jaspers on the day. The Dolphins jumped on the board in the top of the first inning when Andy Parrino (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) doubled to center field to lead off the game. Corey O'Neill (Pittsford, N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit) would follow with a double to left center that would plate Parrino. Phil St. Amant (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) added a single to push O'Neill across with the Dolphins second run of the game.

The Jaspers would score two in the bottom of the fourth inning when Manhattan's Nick Derba drove a home run down the left field line. Those would be the only runs that Blevins would allow on the day as he would earn his seventh victory of the season. In the process, Ryan Woods (Jacksonville, Fla./Englewood) closed the game out by securing the final five outs to earn his 11th save of the season and set a new program career mark of 23.

Game two saw a terrific pitching performance by sophomore right-hander Eric Beaulac (Troy, N.Y./Troy). Beaulac allowed only one unearned run on one hit through six innings while striking out eight. This victory marks his conference leading eighth win of the season.

All the scoring for the afternoon affair took place in the fifth inning. Andy Parrino would lead off the inning with a hit by pitch. The junior shortstop would steal two bases that would lead to the Dolphins first run. Le Moyne would scratch for two more runs on a St. Amant RBI single and Chris Haynes (Manlius, N.Y. /Fayetteville-Manlius) sacrifice fly.  The Jaspers would work Le Moyne for one run in the bottom of the fifth, but Beaulac closed the door on Manhattan as they would leave the bases loaded. Ryan Woods would enter the game in the seventh inning to record his second save of the afternoon.

Le Moyne and Manhattan square off in the third and final game of the series on Sunday at noon.
