Syracuse, N.Y. - The Le Moyne Dolphins split a non-conference doubleheader with St. Bonaventure on Wednesday at Dick Rockwell Field. Le Moyne defeated St. Bonaventure 6-1 in game one, but fell 5-4 in game two. The split moves the Dolphins to 22-16 on the season. St. Bonaventure moves to 19-20 on the year. The second-game loss snaps the Le Moyne's 14 game winning streak that was tops in Division I at the time.
In game one, the Dolphins used terrific pitching by Daniel Tunison (Bath, N.Y. / Bath/Haverling) and timely hitting to defeat the Bonies 6-1. Tunison pitched a complete game, yielding one run on eight hits and striking out five. The win improves his record to 3-1 on the season. Andy Parrino (Brockport, NY / Brockport) led the way for the Dolphins at the plate. Parrino doubled and singled on the day, driving in two runs. Chris Haynes (Manlius, N.Y. /Fayetteville-Manlius), Ben Gaal (Manlius, N.Y. /Christian Brothers Academy) and Robby Perez Miami, FL /Belen Jesuit Prep) collected two hits each.
In game two, the Dolphins jumped out in front of the Bonies 3-0 with help from Mike Brown (Vestal, N.Y. / Vestal)and Sean Paino (Wappinger Falls, N.Y. /Roy C Ketcham), each delivered RBI singles. St. Bonaventure would take a 4-3 on a bases clearing three RBI double by Joe Rizzo. Le Moyne would tie the game in the bottom of the seventh inning on a two-out RBI single by Robby Perez to force extra innings. In the top of the ninth, St. Bonaventure would go score the winning run on a Kyle Gorby single to right field that plated Kieran Malone
Le Moyne returns to action this weekend for a three game series with Siena College at Dick Rockwell Field. First pitch on Saturday is set for noon.
