BASEBALL HEADS TO MAAC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME AS GAAL DRIVES IN GAME-WINNER IN THE BOTTOM OF THE NINTH

Fishkill, N.Y. - The Le Moyne Dolphins move into the championship game of the MAAC Tournament on Saturday May, 26 with a 2-1 victory over the Manhattan Jaspers.  Senior Ben Gaal (Manlius, N.Y. / CBA) came through in the clutch in a one-run win for the Dolphins.  Gaal lined a two-on, two-out single to plate junior Andy Parrino (Brockport, N.Y. / Brockport) for the winning run in the bottom of the ninth.

Sophomore Eric Beaulac (Troy, N.Y. / Troy) and Manhattan starter Josh Santerre were locked in a pitcher's duel until the seventh inning, when senior Ryan Woods (Jacksonville, Fla. / Englewood) came into the game to finish the duel.  Beaulac went 6.1 innings, allowing no runs on one hit and struck out three batters.  Woods came in relief, throwing 2.2 innings, striking out one and giving up one run on three hits.   While Santerre went 8.2 innings allowing two runs on four hits and striking out 10 Dolphins, but took the loss for the Jaspers.  Picking up the victory for Le Moyne was MAAC Relief Pitcher of the Year Woods, improving his record to 6-1.

The first four innings went scoreless until junior outfielder Robby Perez (Miami, Fla. / Belen Jesuit Prep) drove in the first run on a two-out double down the left field line.  Manhattan then tied the game in the top of the eighth with a two-out single to right field by Rene Ruiz off the glove of a diving Mike Brown (Vestal, N.Y. / Vestal).  The Dolphins came through in the bottom of the ninth with a walk-off single by Gaal.

With the victory, Le Moyne moves into the championship game for the sixth time, where they will face the winner of the Manhattan/Marist game.  The Dolphins will look to win their fourth tournament championship.  The first pitch is slated for 1:00 pm at Dutchess Stadium on Saturday.
