BASEBALL SWEEPS ST. PETER'S IN RECORD SETTING FASHION

JERSEY CITY, NJ – The Le Moyne College baseball team swept St. Peter's in a doubleheader on Saturday in record fashion. In game one, the Dolphins defeated the Peacocks 20-1. Le Moyne would put up a program record 29 runs in game two in topping St. Peter's, 29-7. With the victories, Le Moyne improves to 13-16 on the season. St. Peters falls to 13-16 on the year.

In game one, the offense would shine as the Dolphins put up 20 runs on 22 hits. Senior catcher Phil St. Amant and sophomore Sean Paino led the way with three hits each. Five other Dolphins recorded two hits on the day. Chris Edmondson, St. Amant and Don Schaaf all connected for homeruns.

Junior Eric Beaulac pitched his fourth consecutive strong performance pitching seven innings allowing three hits and one earned run to earn his fourth win of the season. The junior right-hander currently ranks 13th in the nation in strikeouts per nine innings and struck out six on the day. T.J. Sheridan pitched the final two innings, allowing one hit and recording two strikeouts.

Game two would showcase a record setting performance by the Le Moyne offense. The Dolphins would set program records for runs in a game (29), runs in a doubleheader (49) and hits in a game (30).

St. Amant set a program record with six hits in the game as he was 6-for-7 with four RBI and three runs scored. St. Amant also joined Robby Perez in tying a school record with three doubles in a game. Chris Haynes drove in six runs on three hits, including two home runs. Edmondson also knocked in six runs on three hits, including two doubles.

On the mound, Cory Nelson picked up his first career victory pitching five innings, allowing four runs and striking out five.

In sixteen innings of play on Saturday, the Dolphins failed to score in all but three innings.

Le Moyne resumes the series with St. Peters on Sunday with a nine inning game at Noon. Sophomore right-hander Daniel Tunison is scheduled to start for the Dolphins.
