DIFRUSCIO'S GRAND SLAM, HAYNES TWO RUN SHOT HELP THE DOLPHINS PUT GAME ONE OF THE DOUBLEHEADER OUT OF REACH

SYRACUSE, NY - The Le Moyne College Dolphins took both games of the scheduled doubleheader today at Dick Rockwell Field. The Dolphins defeated the Marist Red Foxes 12-3 in a scheduled nine-inning game, and 6-5 in a seven-inning game. The Dolphins improve to 18-16 on the season, and send the Red Foxes to 14-18. Game three starter, Daniel Tunison, and the Dolphins will host the last game of the three game series Sunday at Dick Rockwell Field. First pitch is set for noon.

The Red Foxes came out strong against the dominant hard throwing RHP Eric Beaulac, manufacturing two early runs in the first, by throwing up blanks the following six innings. Beaulac lasted seven innings, allowing two runs on four hits, and striking out nine batters.

Senior Aaron DiFruscio would help the Dolphins pull away with a monster pinch-hit grand slam to dead center field. DiFruscio provided the game tying RBI single last game against Cornell. Junior Chris Haynes also added to the Dolphins power surge with his third home run of the season to deep left center. Haynes reached base in all four plate appearances today (2-2 3 RBIs, 2 BB). It was junior Brandon Otto who would finish the game providing two innings of relief work, allowing only one run and striking out two.

Senior Robby Perez would continue his hot hitting, providing two hits in three at bats at the plate, with an RBI. It was Sean Paino who would lead all Dolphins with three hits (3-5) at the plate. Senior Stephen Crawford, Junior Matt Nandin, and sophomore Chris Edmondson would provide multi-hit games as well.

Game two of the double header was a scheduled seven-inning contest. The Red Foxes would fall 6-5, despite out hitting the Dolphins thirteen-to-four. Freshman Cory Nelson would pick up his second win of his college career. The Dolphins would get to Marist's starter Josh Rickards in the Dolphins third. Rickards would let the game get away from him, walking three and throwing two wild pitches in the inning. The Dolphins scored four runs with one hit, and reached base on two errors in their third. Nellis would pick up his fifth save of the season, closing the game with 1.1 innings of work.
