WOMEN'S LACROSSE WRAPS UP SEASON WITH 11-10 VICTORY OVER MARIST; MCCARTHY LEADS WITH 3 GOALS & 2 ASSISTS

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – The fifteenth season of Le Moyne College women's lacrosse came to a close on Sunday as the Dolphins topped Marist 11-10. The win improves Le Moyne to 12-5 on the year which ranks in a tie for third in program history for most wins in a season. Freshman Mia Valletta's goal from Michelle Lissner with 10:23 remaining proved to be the game winner as the Dolphins held the Red Foxes scoreless over the last 12 minutes of the game.

Marist got on the board first with an unassisted goal from Liz Falco less than one minute into regulation. Lisa McCarthy responded with one of her three goals on the afternoon to pull even at 1-1. The first half would be a back-and-forth affair with either team able to build a lead greater than one. With nine seconds remaining in the first half, Falco added her third goal of the half to give Marist a slim 6-5 lead heading into halftime.

The Red Foxes scored the first two goals coming out of the locker room to build an 8-5 lead less than three minutes into the second period. Senior Kylie Rosette poured in three straight goals for the Dolphins to tie the game at 8-8. Le Moyne and Marist traded goals until freshman Mia Valletta converted for her seventh goal of the season from Michelle Lissner to put the Dolphins ahead for good 11-10.

The Le Moyne defense would stand strong over the final 10 minutes behind senior Samantha Falcone who recorded eight saves in goal to earn her program leading 49th victory.

For Le Moyne, Whitney Vecchio added two goals and one assist. Her three points on the day gives her 237 for her career, good enough for second all-time behind Amanda Keegan '07. Vecchio's 80 points this season also ranks third all-time for points in a season.

Kylie Rosette's three goals gives her 38 points for the season and moves her into third all-time for points in a career with 199.
