SYRACUSE, NY – Behind Brian Ivan's 3-for-5 effort with two home runs and five RBI's, the Binghamton Bearcats topped the Le Moyne Dolphins 12-10 at Dick Rockwell Field on Wednesday. Le Moyne (20-17) was once again led by Robby Perez who homered for the third consecutive game.
Binghamton (14-21) got on the board in the top half of the second as Ivan connected for his first of two home runs as he took Le Moyne starter Cory Nelson over the wall in left center. Perez pulled Le Moyne within one in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI single to right center platting Phil St. Amant.
The Bearcats would flex their muscle in the top of the fourth with Ryan James and Ivan connecting for two-run home runs, pushing the lead to 6-1. As they did earlier in the game, the Dolphins responded in their following at-bat scoring two runs on Perez's home run to left center.
Down 6-3 in the bottom half of the seventh innings, the Dolphins unleashed an attack on Bearcat reliever Matt Simone. Five straight batters reached base and all scored to give Le Moyne an 8-6 advantage. The inning was highlighted by Chris Edmondson's towering blast to right field to plate three runs to give the Dolphins their first lead of the day.
After retiring the first batter in the eight, Binghamton scrapped together a couple of base runners to chance reliever Tom McDermott from the game. The Bearcats would load the bases and connect for two, two-out singles off reliever Luke Nellis to regain the lead at 10-8.
Le Moyne would scratch for a run in the eighth and one in the ninth, but the Bearcats would hold on for the 12-10 victory. James Giulietti earned his second win of the season with two innings of relief and Greg Lane picked up his fifth save of the season.
For Le Moyne, Steve Crawford, Phil St. Amant and Sean Paino each collected two hits and scored a run.
Le Moyne returns to action this weekend as they travel to take on Siena in a three game series beginning on Saturday.
