BEAULAC AND TARDIFF BLANK NIAGARA IN GAME ONE OF DOUBLEHEADER, BASEBALL LOSES THE TAIL END

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. -The Le Monye College Dolphins split with the University of Niagara Purple Eagles at Sal Maglie Stadium. Junior RHP Eric Beaulac picked up the win in the first game. Beaulac threw a one hitter through seven innings. Freshman Jeff Tardiff came in for two innings of relief to receive the save. Both Beaulac and Tardiff held Niagara scoreless. Sophomore Luke Nellis was unsuccessful picking up the win in the second game. The Dolphins improve to 11-15 after the split, sending the Purple Eagles to 11-11.

The Dolphins scattered twelve hits and generated five runs in the 5-0 victory. Sophomore Chris Edmondson continued his hot hitting display, going 4-5 with 4 RBIs at the plate. Edmondson would hit his seventh home run of the season off of Mark Wilson. Edmondson's two run RBI single in the top of the ninth inning added to the Dolphins 3-0 lead. It was Tardiff who would complete the combined shutout by delivering two scoreless innings.

It was sophomore Matt Nandin who contributed the only Dolphins multi-hit game (2-4) in the tail end game of the double header. The second game was a seven-inning contest featuring LHP Luke Nellis and Daniel Morari. Down 2-0 in the top of the fifth inning, senior Chris Murphy would cut the Dolphins lead in half with a double in the left center field gap. Cam Stykemain would expand the Purple Eagle's lead back to two with an RBI single to right field. Heading into the last inning down 3-1, the Dolphins would threaten with bases loaded and two outs. A wild pitch would generate another Dolphins run closing the Dolphins deficit 3-2. The last out came down to senior catcher Phil St. Amant, who ended the game striking out.

The Dolphins will play the last game of the three game series Sunday April 6th. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
