BASEBALL SPLITS WITH FAIRFIELD, 'PHINS TAKE GAME ONE 4-3, DROP SECOND GAME 6-2

FAIRFIELD, CT – Led by right-hander Eric Beaulac's strong pitching performance in game one, the Dolphins managed a split at Fairfield. The 'Phins took game on 4-3 and dropped the nightcap 6-2. Le Moyne moves to 23-20 on the season while Fairfield improves their record to 14-29.

In game one, the Dolphins got on the board in the second inning with three runs. Following a Phil St. Amant double and a walk to Chris Haynes, Robby Perez plated one run on an RBI single to left field. Le Moyne added two more RBI's on singles from Sean Paino and Alex Del Valle to take a 3-0 advantage. Doubles by Chris Edmondson and St. Amant pushed across one more run in the top half of the third to increase the Dolphins' advantage to 4-0.

Junior Eric Beaulac cruised through his first seven innings of work, holding the Stags scoreless and allowing only two hits. Fairfield scratched together one run in the eighth on a bases loaded fielder's choice. With the game tying run first base, lefty Tom McDermott earned his first save of the season when he got Tucker Nathans to ground out to second base to end the game. Beaulac improved his record to 7-2 on the season allowing four hits, one earned run and striking out six.

After three scoreless innings to open the second game of the doubleheader, Fairfield struck for four runs in the bottom of the fourth highlighted by Nathans' two-run home run to left and a two-out, two-RBI double by Michael Joyce. A solo homer by Chris Murphy pulled the Dolphins within three runs at 4-1 in the top half of the sixth. The Stags answered with two more runs in the bottom half the innings on Patrick Hoban's two runs single up the middle.

Kevin Fico went the distance for the Stags, allowing four hits, two earned runs and recorded four strikeouts. Albie Desimone led the way for Fairfield with two hits and one run scored. Tucker Nathans also added two RBI's and a run scored.
